2019 OC Día del Niño
Workshop Application

Arts OC, in partnership with Media Arts Santa Ana (MASA) and the OC Fair & Event Center Imaginology, will present the 8th annual OC Día del Niño/Day of the Child (DDN) family arts festival on Sunday, April 13-14, 2019 10am - 5pm at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. OC Día del Niño celebrates children of all cultures and connects the Orange County community with creative community partners and artists to provide engaging arts experiences and to inspire lifelong participation in the arts.

Organizations and artists are invited to submit applications to participate in Día del Niño.

We are currently seeking applications from artists and organizations to provide engaging, enriching and culturally-based workshops that celebrate the diversity of Orange County’s Latino community and relate to this year’s theme, Celebration of the Americas.

Participants will celebrate children’s rights and the importance of arts and culture in developing their creativity, self-expression and connection to community.

Workshops should provide participants with an opportunity to deepen their engagement in and understanding of the arts.

Día del Niño workshops shall serve the following outcomes:

  •  Participants identify their artistic experiences as hands-on, rather than passive;

  •  Participants deepen their understanding of the creative process and want to experience more of the same;

  • Participants see themselves as creative persons who are capable of meaningful arts participation regardless of skill level;

  • Participants experience a sense of creative accomplishment and are able to articulate what aspects appealed to them (i.e. working with others, trying something new, etc.);

  •  Participants are inspired to develop their creative skills through arts participation and are provided with information about local resources to further their engagement;

  • Participants take part in an engaging cultural and artistic expression related to the festival theme A Celebration of the Americas (Celebración de las Américas);

  • Participants understand that arts creation can be enjoyed as a family activity;

  • Participants feel that their experience successfully captured the tradition of Día del Niño in a meaningful and important way.

The submission deadline is Friday, Feb 22, 2019. Applicants will be notified by Monday March 11.
